Galloping Gallinule

Galloping GallinuleIs this the swamp bird version of the funky chicken?  I ran across this bird last weekend at the Red River National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters Unit near Bossier City, Louisiana.  As pointed out by my birding friends, what was once a Common Moorhen is now called a Common Gallinule.  More commonly associated with southern Louisiana swamps, this bird can be found throughout the eastern U.S. during the summer months.  A couple of years ago I saw two similar birds at Headquarters and managed some not so great pix.  This guy was more photogenic and even showed off some dance floor moves.
